How do you recognize that a bladder infection on the kidneys over?

With a kidney infection is not to joke. It is therefore all the more important to pay attention to possible signs in the case of a urinary tract infection, as the most common cause of pyelonephritis (medically: pyelonephritis) is cystitis. Although such a complication is the exception. Nevertheless, it is important to be attentive.

A pyelonephritis is usually expressed by a severe feeling of illness (much more pronounced than in a normal bladder infection) and the following symptoms:

  • Fever and chills
  • Pain in the back and in the flanks
  • strong urinary urgency, with only a small amount of sputum (identical to cystitis)
  • Painful urination (same as cystitis)
  • cloudy, sometimes bloody urine

Why is it so important not to just lie down in bed, but to see a doctor immediately? Because kidney infection, if left untreated, can lead to complete destruction of the affected kidney. In the worst case, a pyelonephritis ends with the surgical removal of a kidney or dialysis. But that's not likely to happen if you respond correctly. Since the pathogens are almost always bacteria, the infection can be treated very well with antibiotics in most cases.
